Man on Mount Everest catches COVID-19

A climber has caught COVID-19 on Mount Everest, the tallest mountain in the world. Mount Everest was closed last year because of COVID-19. Mount Everest is reopening now for climbers who want to climb the mountain in the summer of 2021. Mount Everest is in Nepal.

Unfortunately, a Norwegian man who had COVID-19 climbed up Mount Everest and he spread the disease to other climbers on the mountain. He said he could have caught COVID-19 in a café, or a tea house.


Nepal makes millions of dollars from tourism at Mount Everest every year. All people travelling to Nepal need to take a COVID-19 test before going there.
